The new www.StepUp.ie website has gone live.
It is designed to be used by 12 and 13 year-olds and should answer a lot of the questions that they have regarding the move to secondary school.
There’s a lot of information on the site and it will be added to more as the summer goes on so I’d encourage your child to come back to it a couple of times over the summer, rather than trying to go through all of it at once. There’s also a section for parents to have a look through.
There are about 70,000 children nationally, and 6,300 in our region, starting secondary after the summer and most will have missed any of the usual school transition work that would have been done in a normal year. The website should be helpful to them and to their parents.
